Fenty a go-go

Mayor Adrian Fenty has launched an advertising campaign tapping into the District’s own brand of funk music, go-go, to help establish his credibility among black voters, The Washington Post reports.

In one, go-go artist Chi Ali tells listeners to “get the facts, not fiction” on Fenty by going to the mayor’s Web site. In another, a man talks over Wale’s “Pretty Girls” and says, “He’s got that posture!” (That’s D.C. talk for swagger.)

One ad includes go-go artist Anwan “Big G” Glover, who played the laid back drug dealer/enforcer Slim Charles in the television show “The Wire.”  Charles, Wire fans may remember, avenged the untimely death of Prop Joe by unceremoniously deposing of the traitorous Cheese.
