A Texas Republican lawmaker thinks CNN reporter Jim Acosta should be fired and banned from press briefings when President-elect Trump is in the White House, after his contentious exchange with Trump on Wednesday.
“The CNN reporter who was disruptive to the press briefing, & disrespectful to Trump — should be fired and & prohibited from any press briefings,” Rep. Randy Weber, R-Texas, tweeted Thursday morning.

Acosta and Trump exchanged words during the press conference when Acosta attempted to ask a question, but Trump didn’t want to acknowledge CNN. The network reported the previous day that intelligence officials had included a two-page report on potential compromising information the Russian government had on Trump.
Trump pointed at Acosta and shouted him down during the press conference, calling him “fake news” and refusing to take his question. Acosta repeatedly asked if he could ask his question because Trump was attacking CNN.
Acosta declined to comment on Weber’s tweet. A message was left with Weber’s spokesperson seeking clarification on the tweet.
