Trump attacks Harry Reid: ‘He led through lies and deception’

President Trump on Monday hammered Harry Reid after the ailing former senator said the president was the worst the country has ever seen.

“Former Senator Harry Reid (he got thrown out) is working hard to put a good spin on his failed career,” Trump wrote on Twitter Monday morning. “He led through lies and deception, only to be replaced by another beauty, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer. Some things just never change!”

Reid, who was Senate Majority leader from 2007 to 2015, told CNN that Trump made former President George W. Bush look like the Babe Ruth of Republican presidents.

Reid served in the Senate under Bush’s presidency and often called the 43rd president a “loser,” “liar,” but said Trump was the worst president the U.S. ever had.

“He and I had our differences, but no one ever questioned his patriotism. Our battles were strictly political battles,” Reid said, adding that he now wished every day for Bush to be president again. “There’s no question in my mind that George Bush would be Babe Ruth in this league that he’s in with Donald Trump in the league. Donald Trump wouldn’t make the team.”

Reid, 79, left the Senate a few weeks before Trump was inaugurated and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year.
