The book that rocked the political world this week flew off the shelves of Washington, D.C., bookstores just minutes after being released earlier than planned at midnight on Friday.
“Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” by Michael Wolff made waves in Washington with excerpts published by various news outlets this week looking at the early days of Trump’s presidency and painting a generally unfavorable picture of his fitness for office. Quotes in the book caused a public rift between Trump and former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon.
The D.C.-based bookstore Kramerbooks reportedly released 75 copies of the controversial book at midnight that sold out in just two minutes. The book is also the No. 1 bestseller on Amazon.

Politics & Prose, another D.C. bookstore chain, had 84 copies out Friday morning at the flagship store and 30 at its D.C. Wharf location both of which sold out “within minutes,” a spokesperson told The Hill.
The books publisher Henry Holt & Company pushed the release date up by four days following excerpts released that prompted Trump’s lawyer to send a cease-and-desist letter to the publisher.
