Blac Chyna’s defamation claim against Kim Kardashian tossed out

Kim Kardashian will not be among the family members legally affected by model Blac Chyna’s defamation suit, according to a Los Angeles judge.

Judge Gregory Alarcon tossed out the claim Friday on the grounds that the lawyers for Chyna, whose legal name is Angela Renee White, hadn’t provided any evidence or statement from Kardashian that was defamatory toward her.

The Kardashian family made false allegations of abuse against Chyna that resulted in the model losing her reality TV show with her then-fiance, Robert Kardashian, the lawsuit alleges.

Witnesses included Kris Jenner, Jenner’s boyfriend Corey Gamble, Robert Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner.

The Kardashians’ mother, Kris Jenner, testified a week ago that she regretted sending a text to the showrunner of Chyna’s program that read: “We need to ditch this b****.” But Chyna was an abusive partner who “tried to put a gun to [Rob’s] head,” Jenner, one of the defendants in the case, said in court.

Chyna’s ex-fiance accused her of cheating in a now-deleted Instagram post, and she claimed he refused to treat his mental health problems. During their child custody battle of their only daughter, Dream Kardashian, Chyna went as far as demanding Robert Kardashian to undergo a mental health evaluation.

The lawsuit, filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, seeks $40 million in lost earnings and over $60 million in estimated future earnings. The family denies the allegations.

To win against Kris Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner, who face defamation claims, nine of the 12 jurors will have to agree they lied about the abuse against Robert Kardashian and that they, including Robert, illegally interfered with Chyna’s contract with the show’s network.

After the claims against Chyna surfaced in December 2016, their show Rob and Chyna was canceled midway through filming its second season in February 2017.

Their jury is scheduled to continue its deliberation on Monday.
