‘No bedbugs at Doral’: Trump trolls media after backlash for saying he’d host G-7 summit at Trump property

President Trump trolled the media saying that there aren’t bedbugs at his Doral golf resort after facing scrutiny for suggesting that the United States may host next year’s G-7 summit at the resort.

The president revealed that Doral was a leading location for next year’s summit on Monday. Following the revelation, a number of people were critical of the idea suggesting that Trump could profit financially for hosting the event there.

“No bedbugs at Doral,” Trump tweeted Tuesday morning. “The Radical Left Democrats, upon hearing that the perfectly located (for the next G-7) Doral National MIAMI was under consideration for the next G-7, spread that false and nasty rumor. Not nice!”

The reference to bedbugs likely refers to the news that The New York Times found evidence of possible bedbug infiltration throughout the newsroom. An email to employees said that there was evidence of the parasites in a wellness room, “on the second floor, a couch on the third floor and a booth on the fourth floor.”

Despite the president’s claim, a New Jersey insurance executive sued the Doral resort back after allegedly getting bit by bedbugs while staying there in March, 2016. The Miami Herald’s coverage of the lawsuit from the time it took place resurfaced on social media Monday following the president’s announcement.
