LAS VEGAS (AP) — High winds put a damper early Sunday on a desert rave in Las Vegas featuring more than 100 dance music performers.
Electric Daisy Carnival organizers say they were forced to shut down their acts for the night at 2:45 a.m. out of safety concerns for an estimated 90,000 fans.
Wind gusts of up to 30 mph prompted a temporary shutdown of the festival around 1 a.m. The acts resumed for a short time, but officials later ordered an end to the night’s festival.
Fans were allowed to stay and listen to music from temporary sound systems until 5:30 a.m. from the infield grass of Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The three-day festival is scheduled to continue as scheduled, with gates opening at 7 p.m. Sunday until 5:30 a.m. Monday.
