82 degrees? Today’s warmth might find a spot in the record books

It looks like today’s high temperature might be record-breaking after all.

Earlier this week it looked like, despite the May-like weather, D.C.’s temperatures wouldn’t make the record books.

But now the National Weather Service is predicting that the District will record a high temperature of about 82 degrees, which would best the record of 81 degrees, set in 1990 at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The District’s normal high for today’s date is 56 degrees, according to Weather Service records. The lowest high temperature on this date was 32 degrees in 1932.

The Weather Service predicts that today will be mostly sunny, although there’s a 30-percent chance of rain tonight.

High temperatures will drop to the 70s on Friday and Saturday, with highs in the middle 60s on Sunday.
