LOS ANGELES (AP) — Two fire trucks and two fire boats are responding after a charred beam on a wooden wharf that burned at the Port of Los Angeles began producing smoke again.
The Fire Department says crews were in mop-up mode Thursday morning when light smoke began billowing. There is no active flame.
The fire sparked Monday evening by a welding accident was declared out shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday.
It burned through the day Tuesday, disrupting business at the Port of Los Angeles and the adjacent Port of Long Beach, which together handle 40 percent of America’s import trade. No injuries were reported.
