Cruz drops out, DCCC freaks out over Trump presidency

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee blasted out a fundraising email to supporters Tuesday night after Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz announced the suspension of his campaign.

It may be good news to some progressives that the Tea Party Texan has left the race, yet the DCCC said it is more afraid of how Cruz’s exit could help GOP front-runner Donald Trump.

“It’s terrifying. Seriously. With this news it’s clear Donald Trump could be our next president. Especially when a recent USA Today poll shows him tied with BOTH Democratic candidates. President Trump armed with a Republican Congress would inflict endless damage on our country. This is a grave situation. It’s up to us to stop them,” the DCCC wrote.

The committee asked supporters to help meet its $150,000 fundraising goal by midnight Wednesday into Thursday.
