‘You’re getting pounded by Andrew Yang’: Morning Joe mocks Trump approval numbers

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough mocked President Trump’s approval numbers by pointing out that one recent poll has him losing to entrepreneur-turned presidential candidate Andrew Yang.

An Emerson poll released on Tuesday showed that four Democratic presidential candidates would beat Trump in a hypothetical head-to-head. Former Vice President Joe Biden had a 10 point lead over the president, while Yang came in second with an 8 point advantage. Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Kamala Harris of California also beat the president, albeit by a more narrow margin. Trump was able to edge out Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Another poll Scarborough and the Morning Joe co-hosts discussed on Wednesday was a CNN poll released on Tuesday that revealed 6 in 10 Americans don’t think Trump deserves a second term.

“His approval rating, once again in the 30s,” Scarborough stated. “This is — this is again, for somebody who’s been president [for] three years, the old rule used to be if your reelect is below 50 percent you’re in big trouble. Donald Trump’s reelect nationwide is below 40 percent, and in a lot of the swing states we’ve seen over the past couple of months, it’s actually in the low 30s.”

“Here you see, even Andrew Yang handily defeats Donald Trump. Hey, Donald Trump, you’re getting pounded by Andrew Yang. He’s promising to give people like whatever they want, and you’re losing to him. You want $5,000? OK, I’ll get you 5. You want $10,000? Sure. No sweat, baby. You’re losing to him,” he continued.

Yang will be one of the 10 candidates who will participate in Thursday night’s presidential debate.
