With the conversion of all full-power television stations to high-definition format slated for 2009, Renegade Productions is looking to remain ahead of the curve.

The Hunt Valley-based marketing, production and training firm has upgraded its production and postproduction capabilities to include all HD formats.

“We?re one of the first people in the area to have all these options available to shoot, the equipment to shoot and the equipment to edit,” company president and CEO Tim Watkins said. “We can do just about anything you want.”

Renegade?s new HD format is not the only new capabilities at the agency. In March, the company moved its headquarters to a new facility in Hunt Valley that marked the debut of its 6,000-square-foot studio.

Dennis Castleman, assistant secretary for tourism, film and the arts at the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, said the company is poised to significantly increase the amount of commercial work it presently handles.

“They have a Class A operation and a very sophisticated operation,” Castleman said. “I think they?ll definitely bring in a lot more commercial work.”

Jennifer Stine, the company?s executive vice president and chief operating officer, said the company?s recent expansion and upgrade is part of its desire to capture a niche market in the industry.

“Every agency is trying to find their niche because the traditional way of advertising is kind of dying right before our eyes,” she said. “Being that our core business is in video development, we are really focusing on the new technologies that are available to advertisers.”
