President Trump announced Thursday the names of two American soldiers from the Korean War identified from troop remains given to U.S. by North Korea earlier this year.
“Army Master Sgt. Charles H. McDaniel, 32, or Vernon, Indiana, and Army Pfc. William H. Jones, 19, of Nash County, North Carolina, are the first American remains from……North Korea to be identified as a result of my Summit with Chairman Kim,” Trump tweeted Thursday. “These HEROES are home, they may Rest In Peace, and hopefully their families can have closure.”

Earlier this summer, North Korea provided the Trump administration with 55 boxes of what were believed to be the remains of U.S. troops.
Returning the remains of U.S. troops was agreed upon when Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore in June.
The two also reached an agreement paving the way to denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, which recently stalled but just this week appeared to be getting back on track.
