Two Crofton women were killed when their car spun out of control in Gambrills and crashed into several trees, Anne Arundel police said.
Rebecca Moore, 23, who was driving her 2007 Hyundai Accent, and Keira Mosaid, 19, who was in the passenger seat, were traveling south on Davidsonville Road north of Bottner Road about 1:15 a.m. Sunday when the car drifted to the right and struck a curb.
Moore oversteered to the left, lost control and veered off the road, police said.
Once it left the road, the car flipped onto its left side and struck several trees. It stoppedon its left side partially wrapped around a large tree.
Police said alcohol, drug use and excessive speed are believed to be major contributing factors in the crash.
Moore, of Copley Court, and Mosaid, of Fendall Court, were killed on impact and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
“Keira was a beautiful person who was loved by everyone,” said Missy Brown, a friend who answered the Mosaid family?s phone Monday.
Mosaid was a recent graduate of South River High School and was considering transferring to Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C., said her friend Kayte Brown, 18.
“She was my best friend and an excellent person,” she said.
Moore?s family could not be reached for comment.
It is unclear how Moore and Mosaid knew each other.
