NAACP President Derrick Johnson says he has no choice but to believe President Trump is “racist” based on his comments and policy stances, according to an interview published Friday afternoon.
The leader of the nonpartisan organization said in light of Trump’s calling poor countries “shithole” places and pushing the
incorrect theory that former President Barack Obama was born in Africa’s Kenya, the Republican leader “has demonstrated both in words and in deeds and in policy implementations racist tendencies.”
“I have no other conclusion but to say he is a racist,” Johnson said about Trump, according to Politico.
Every
other U.S. president
since 1947 has met with the NAACP
; a year and seven months into his administration, Trump has not.
“We have not seen this White House engage with any African-American organization,” Johnson added. “For their part, I’m not aware of any true engagement with any Latino or other communities of colors outside of seeking basic photo opportunities.”
The comments come the same day as ousted White House aide Omarosa Manigault, an African-American woman,
today claimed
she heard Trump use the
N-word before becoming president

This weekend marks the one-year anniversary of the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Va., when a white supremacist event descended into chaos. A man drove his car into street crowds and killed one person.
Trump was criticized after the incident for blaming “many sides” and not the
event’s organizers for the deadly violence.
