Hillary Clinton met with former Vice President Joe Biden and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar earlier this month to discuss the 2020 presidential race – the latest in a series of White House hopefuls to seek her counsel.
Clinton’s status among Democrats is double-edged. Despite being the overwhelming favorite to beat Donald Trump in 2016, she suffered a stunning loss. In last year’s mid-term elections, Democratic candidates wanted her to stay away from the campaign trail.
At the same time, Clinton won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes in 2016 and, along with her husband former president Bill Clinton, is half of the most powerful Democratic couple in modern history.
The defeated 2016 Democratic presidential nominee met with Klobuchar, who has already declared her candidacy, and Biden at her $.5.57 million Embassy Row home in Washington, D.C,. according to CNN.
Clinton’s meeting with Klobuchar, 58, took place before the senator declared she was running at a snowy rally in Minneapolis on Feb. 10.
It was reported last month that Clinton also held discussions with Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti to talk about 2020.
Garcetti has said he will not run for president this time. Biden, 76, has said he is nearing a decision.
