A bomb threat was made at Wakefield High School in Arlington County Thursday morning, forcing the school to be evacuated, according to police officials.
Arlington County Police received the threatening phone call at about 10:45 a.m. from a pay phone inside the school, according to Detective Crystal Nosal, a police spokeswoman.
The school was evacuated as a precaution at about 11:30 a.m., with students and faculty gathering outside at the football stadium. Police conducted a sweep of the building with bomb sniffing dogs and discovered nothing wrong.
Arlington County police were assisted by officers from Fort Myers Police, the Pentagon Police Department, the U.S. Marshals and the Virginia State Police.
Students began to head back inside around 1 p.m., and will continue the day with an abbreviated schedule, according to Wakefield Principal Dr. Christian Willmore.
