Fingerprint evidence has linked a Falls Church man to a 2001 burglary and sexual assault in Manassas, Prince William County police said.
Police said a 68-year-old woman reported that someone broke into her home on the 7400 block of Norwalk Court on Oct. 23, 2001, and sexually assaulted her.
Evidence was collected from the scene at that time, and police said fingerprints linked 41-year-old Raul Lopez-Moreno to the attack this February. That fingerprint evidence wasn’t available at the time of the incident; Lopez-Moreno’s prints were obtained when he was later arrested in Virginia. Police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said he didn’t have details on that arrest.
Lopez-Moreno was arrested Friday in Falls Church. Police said he is charged with burglary with intent to commit sexual assault and is being held without bond.
