Exit poll: Voters split on fairness of criminal justice system

Voters are split on whether they think the criminal justice system treats all people fairly, according to exit polls released Tuesday night.

According to early results from the NBC News Exit Poll, 49 percent of voters think blacks are treated unfairly. However, another 42 percent say the criminal justice system treats all people fairly.

Broken down, the poll found a racial divide regarding opinions on the criminal justice system. Just 14 percent of black voters find the criminal justice system to be a fair one, compared to 82 percent who say it treats blacks unfairly.

White voters were more split, with 49 percent saying all Americans are treated fairly and 42 percent of blacks unfairly.
