Trump holds slim lead in Iowa

Amid plummeting polls in nearly every swing state across the country, one poll had a shred of good news for President Trump: He’s narrowly beating Joe Biden in Iowa.

The progressive firm Public Policy Polling released a survey Tuesday showing Trump falling behind the former vice president in a match-up in virtually every swing state except for Iowa, which Trump with more than 51% of the vote and 9 percentage points over Hillary Clinton.

But the race remains tight with 48% of voters favoring Trump, compared to 47% saying they support Biden. PPP interviewed 1,118 Iowa voters, and the margin of error was plus or minus 2.9 points.

The Trump campaign has poured money into the state in an effort to keep it in the GOP column. Trump was the first Republican to win the state in a general election since George W. Bush in 2004 and carried 94 of the 99 counties.

But Republicans worry the state could flip this November, airing ads across the state for months and sending Vice President Mike Pence on a bus tour last month visiting various manufacturing plans and ginning up enthusiasm among the GOP base.
