Rudy Giuliani: ‘Rabid’ Democrats have ‘no regard for the Constitution or the laws’

President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani says congressional Democrats have become “rabid” and have “no regard for the Constitution or the laws.”

Giuliani, who served as mayor of New York City during the Sept. 11 attacks and made a run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, condemned House Democrats in a Fox News interview Wednesday for the way in which they have incessantly pursued a full release of special counsel Robert Mueller report prior to its thorough examination by the Department of Justice. He also lamented the House Ways and Means Committee’s demands to release Trump’s tax returns.

“Their disregard for the Constitution is mind-boggling and frightening,” Giuliani said, before adding that Attorney General William Barr would be in violation of the rules if he released the full report, which Giuliani said is a federal felony punishable by five years in prison.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal, D-Mass., submitted a request Wednesday for six years’ worth of Trump’s personal and business tax returns, setting up a potential major legal clash with the administration. Democrats believe the tax information could give them insight into any potential ethical or legal conflicts of interest Trump may have.

Giuliani also criticized House Democrats for not wanting to accept that Barr’s summary of the Mueller report, which said Trump and his campaign associates are exonerated from the Russia collusion, and insisting to push the allegations of collusion that have been at the forefront of political discussion over the last two years.

Many congressional Republicans have echoed Giuliani’s sentiment about Trump, with some calling for Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., to resign his chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee, including all the GOP members of the panel. Trump has called for Schiff to resign his seat in Congress.

“They’re a bunch of sneaky unethical leakers, and they are rabid Democrats who hate the president of the United States,” Giuliani said about House Democrats.
