Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) continued his call for an investigation into President Joe Biden’s classified documents on Sunday.
Kaine appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation to comment as a senator sitting on the Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committee who by admission has read classified documents only from a secure room where they remained when he was finished reading them. The senator emphasized that “an independent prosecutor and an investigation is necessary.”

“Government has a tendency to overclassify. If they are looking at a document and they have to analyze, then decide whether to classify, sometimes they just mark it classified,” Kaine said. “I’ll read it in the [sensitive compartmented information facility] and say Margaret was reporting on that a month ago or the Washington Post has been telling me this for the last six months.”
This comes two days since Kaine recommended an investigation into the discovery of classified documents at Biden’s home in a comment to Fox News. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), among others, have agreed that an investigation is appropriate.
