Actress Gina Carano slammed former Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp for accusing Carano of being a “Nazi” during an appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher.
“She’s a Nazi,” Heitkamp said of The Mandalorian actress during a discussion on cancel culture led by Maher.
“She’s not a Nazi,” Maher responded, laughing.
“She’s involved in white supremacy,” Heitkamp continued to insist of Carano.

Another guest on the show, Reason Editor at Large Nick Gillespie, appeared confused by Heitkamp’s accusation.
“She called other people Nazis, so she’s the Nazi,” Gillespie said.
“She does hang with white supremacists,” Heitkamp insisted again.
“She does? Hangs with white supremacists?” Maher skeptically asked.
“Yeah,” Heitkamp responded. “I suppose I’m now subject to defamation.”
“I think we have to be really careful. There’s two things the Republicans think they’re going to get Biden on: cancel culture and this whole Dr. Seuss stuff that’s going on, where they’re reading Green Eggs and Ham, proving that some of these senators can actually read, and immigration,” Heitkamp went on. “And so, we can’t ignore the fact that we got Donald Trump was in part because of political correctness.”

Sharing the segment on Twitter, Carano took aim at the former senator for the “false & disturbing & disgusting language.”
“Here we have more of the dehumanizing phase of cancel culture — Repeat lies over and over until the population takes them as ‘truth,'” Carano wrote. “False, disturbing & disgusting language coming from a former US Senator. @HeidiHeitkamp You knew as soon as you said it you were liable.”

Carano was fired by Lucasfilm last month following a social media post from the actress comparing people who hate others for their political views to the Nazi Party’s campaign of stirring up hatred against Jews.
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children,” Carano wrote on Instagram. “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.”

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a spokesperson for Lucasfilm said in a statement announcing her dismissal. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
