Oregon gas prices average over $4

The average price for gas in Oregon reached over $4 a gallon on Wednesday, according to a report.

Nationally, the average is just over $3.65, according to the American Automobile Association. It also reports that Oregon gas costs roughly $2.96 a gallon one year ago.

This latest hike comes without the tax Washington state is lobbying to charge Oregon for its exported fuel. Oregon Gov. Kate Brown claims it could “pit Oregon against Washington.”

Oregon is now the third most expensive market for gas, alongside California in first with $4.82 and Hawaii in second with $4.54.

The remaining Top 10 include Nevada at $4.02, Washington state at $4.00, Alaska at $3.88, Illinois at $3.85, Arizona at $3.81, New York at $3.80, and Washington, D.C., at $3.77.

Still, Oregon wasn’t among the states that saw the Top 10 largest increases this week. Michigan increased by 18 cents, South Carolina by 16 cents, Kansas by 15 cents, Missouri by 15 cents, Indiana by 14 cents, Illinois by 14 cents, Tennessee by 14 cents, Georgia by 13 cents, North Carolina by 12 cents, and Arizona by 10 cents.
