President Trump is still questioning whether his predecessor’s birth certificate is authentic.
A senator, who was not named, told the New York Times that Trump has had a hard time moving on from his claim that former President Barack Obama was not born in the United States.
Trump pushed the “birther” movement against Obama for years, saying the former president was not born in Hawaii, as his birth certificate said.
In September 2016, Trump held a press conference to declare Obama was born in the U.S., then accused Hillary Clinton of first raising the issue.
