Lawmakers double Maryland’s water fees

ANNAPOLIS — The Maryland House of Delegates passed a bill on Monday that doubles the state’s water fees from $30 to $60 annually.

The Senate already passed the measure, so the bill now goes to Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, who initially proposed doubling the water fee, for his signature.

The fee pays for upgrades to wastewater facilities. It passed the House with an 89-48 vote on the final day of the 2012 session.
