Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., vowed Friday that Democrats would have a woman on the 2020 presidential ticket if he has any say in the matter.
“No matter what, I’m looking you in the eye and saying this: There will be a woman on the ticket,” he said at a campaign event in New Hampshire. “I don’t know if it’s in the vice president’s position or in the president’s position.”
“If I have my way, there will be a woman on the ticket,” he continued.
The 2020 presidential candidate said last month he would make it a priority to have a female running mate if he secures the Democratic nomination.
“I’m not going to box myself in, but should I become [the presidential nominee], you know I’ll be looking to women first,” he told MSNBC.
Six women have already launched their presidential campaigns, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.; Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif.; Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y.; Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn.; Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii; and author Marianne Williamson.
