Malia Obama among list of people owed money from Harvey Weinstein

Former first daughter Malia Obama is among the exhaustive list of people that are owed money from The Weinstein Company after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this week.

The film company quickly tanked after Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein was caught at the center of a massive sex scandal that rocked the industry late last year. Now, they’re facing a 394 page list of creditors as part of their bankruptcy filing.

Former President Barack Obama’s daughter, who interned for the company, is among a list of A-list celebrities, other film companies, and various employees who are owed money, according to the Daily Beast who obtained the documents.

Why Obama or anyone else found themselves on the list and how much they are owed is still unknown.

Legal experts did note that any of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault victims might have a hard time getting their compensation as they would be considered “unsecured creditors” and would be the last to get paid.

Paul Zumbro, the attorney for the Weinstein Company, said they are not there to protect him and the company’s filing should not affect any of his victims pursuing civil or criminal claims against Weinstein.
