As the two senators walked through Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, they were approached by a woman who identified herself as an Arizona resident, persistently asking Sinema what she would do about climate change in the state. Sinema ignored the woman and apologized to Scott for the intrusion.
“No, it’s — I think it’s par for the course,” Scott told Sinema.

Sinema only addressed the purported Arizona resident when she asked the woman not to touch her, to which she responded that she hadn’t. The woman kept trying to get a word from Sinema, asking her to “please answer me.”
“People are suffering. Your constituents are suffering. What are you going to do about climate change? Next week in Glasgow could be the next chance,” the woman said just before the senators boarded an escalator.
Sinema’s decision to ignore the woman drew criticism from the press, specifically how she prioritized her discussion with Scott over answering questions from a constituent of hers.
I’m starting to get the feeling @SenatorSinema doesn’t like Arizonans. She really hates talking to them when they’re not lobbyists…

Sinema has been a target of activists in recent weeks, with the senator being chased into a bathroom on Oct. 3 while teaching at Arizona State University. The day after the incident, Sinema called the demonstrators’ behavior an “unacceptable,” illegitimate protest. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and Sinema’s office both asked county prosecutors to charge four people with misdemeanors over the incident.

Far-left groups and Democrats have targeted Sinema, a centrist, due to her opposition to the original $3.5 trillion price tag of the Democrats’ sweeping budget reconciliation and social spending bill. Her vote is highly sought after across an array of policy issues in the evenly divided Senate.
