When news broke of Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s divorce, Yankees star Alex Rodriguez’s name came up faster than you can say Kabbalah.
The slugger and the pop star were first linked last summer, with his now ex-wife Cynthia accusing him of having an “emotional affair.” Both insisted their connection was platonic, but now that Madge is back on the market, a source has already admitted to Us that the buff twosome “are definitely romantic.”
But that doesn’t necessarily mean A-Rod is a home-wrecker. “With or without A-Rod, Madonna and Guy haven’t been ‘together’ for over a year, they have been privately separated,” says the insider. “Madonna, however, wanted to finish her world tour before divorcing.”
A source close to the baseball star says “A-Rod and Madonna are more involved than ever,” but she had “agreed to be discreet about her relationship” until after the divorce was announced. (Still, they were spotted dining together in NYC on Oct. 2.)
Don’t expect these two to go public as an item anytime soon — at least not until after her divorce payout to Guy.
Madge Money
So how’s Guy Ritchie handling the breakup of his marriage? He’s “doing fine,” a friend tells People, adding that for the “RocknRolla” director, “this has been a long time coming. I think he’s sort of relieved that it’s all out there. He doesn’t have to fake it anymore.”
Guy has good reason to take the split in stride: Reportedly, the couple had no prenup — which means that if their divorce goes to trial, he could score up to half of their combined fortune, or a cool $250 million. (Note that his entire contribution to their wealth during the marriage was only about $35 million, the New York Post reports.)
However, Her Madgesty isn’t forking over her fortune without a fight: She’s hired the same pit-bull lawyer who managed to keep most of Paul McCartney’s cash out of Heather Mills’ hands. Let the games begin!
Ex-Files
The truth is out there: David Duchovny and Tea Leoni are no longer together.
“In light of continuous speculation over the lives and marriage of Tea Leoni and David Duchovny, the couple has confirmed that they have in fact been separated for several months,” said a statement released by their publicists. “The couple had hoped to keep this separation private for the sake of their children.”
The “Californication” star and the pearls-sporting actress wed in 1997 and have two kids. The “continuous speculation” they mention might just have something to do with the fact that David recently went through rehab for sex addiction. Though he and Tea were spotted together at a NYC street festival shortly after his release, the romance had evidently already left their relationship.
A recovering sex addict re-entering the dating pool after a decade? We’ll see how this turns out.
Angie: Another Adoption?
Most moms of infant twins — and four other kids — wouldn’t start thinking about adding to the family for a long, long time. But Angelina Jolie, in case you haven’t noticed, isn’t like most women.
Asked by “Today” host Matt Lauer whether she and baby-daddy Brad Pitt plan to adopt again, the “Changeling” star nodded. When Lauer followed up with “Do you have anything in mind?,” she smiled coyly and answered simply, “Yeah.” (And here we thought they simply threw darts at a map of the world.)
As to whether another adoption could happen soon, Angie responded, “It depends. You can’t even start the process until any new children are 6 months old, to understand how the new family has settled to see what you could absorb into a new family.”
But she’s not too concerned about her current roster of rugrats adjusting to a new addition: “We have so many children, they’re not really stunned any more when kids come home,” the Oscar winner explained. “[Oldest son Maddox] is just … he’s the professional big brother.”
Stay tuned — this time next year, we could be looking at Angie and Brad plus eight.
