THE DAILY OUTRAGE: Wheelies

WHO: Federal Transportation Administration

WHAT: Using $259,141 from the $787 billion federal stimulus, the FTA is buying two automated wheel polishers for Foothill Transit, a California bus line. When the FTA requested bids on the wheel polishers, an Australian company was the only one to respond.

WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: California’s unemployment rate is 11.6 percent, higher than the national average. While this stimulus project will help keep bus wheels shiny, it won’t create a single job in the United States.

WHERE TO VENT: Contact FTA spokesman Paul Griffo at 202-366-4064.
