WHAT: Nelson attached a $200,000 earmark to the $3.1 billion Senate-approved legislative branch appropriations bill. The earmark will help Omaha’s Durham Museum digitize 500,000 historical photographs. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., tried to block the earmark, but the Senate voted down his amendment, 61-to-31.
WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: Since 1995, five of the nine Durham Museum board members contributed a total of $15,600 to Nelson’s campaigns.
