D.C. Council voting on whether to release investigative report

A special D.C. Council committee will vote Monday morning on making public the details of an independent investigation into an $80 million city contract that was handed out to a friend of then-Mayor Adrian Fenty.

Attorney Robert Trout has spent nearly a year interviewing officials with Banneker Ventures, which received an $80 million parks and recreation contract during Fenty’s term that was passed through the city’s independent housing department, escaping council oversight. Banneker was run by one of Fenty’s fraternity brothers.

Members of the special committee overseeing the investigation received the report on Friday, but were required to sign confidentiality agreements by committee chairman Ward 5 Councilman Harry Thomas Jr.
