Fundraiser for family of DC Uber Eats driver killed during carjacking nears $800K

The fundraiser for the family of the Uber Eats driver who was killed during a carjacking has raised more than three-quarters of a million dollars.

A GoFundMe page for Mohammad Anwar’s family has raised more than $781,000, exceeding more than seven times the goal amount.

TEENAGERS ARRESTED AND CHARGED IN DC CARJACKINGS

The description on the page described Anwar as “a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who always provided a smile when you needed one. He leaves behind a family, near and far, who cherish, love, and miss him dearly.”

“Words can not describe how our family is feeling currently,” it goes on. “Devastation, confusion, shock, anger, heartache, and anguish are just a few that come to mind. We will carry him with us always, but it doesn’t take the pain away of losing him so tragically and so unexpectedly soon.”

Last Tuesday, two girls, aged 13 and 15, allegedly attempted to carjack the Pakistani man near Nationals Park in Washington’s southeast neighborhood. As he attempted to flee, while jockeying for control of the vehicle, his car flipped, and he was ejected from the vehicle.

The two teenagers were arrested and charged with felony murder and armed carjacking.
