Broadway star Carole Cook invoked Abraham Lincoln’s assassination while discussing President Trump with a photographer Sunday.
“Where’s John Wilkes Booth when you need him,” she told TMZ, referring to the man who shot the former president in the head in 1865 at Ford’s Theatre.
“He killed presidents,” said Cook’s husband, Tom Troupe.
“Don’t say that! They’ll get me for that,” Cook responded.
Cook then asked the photographer whether she’d be on an “enemies list” for her comments.
“My God, I hope so,” she said. “Just keep me out of jail, or maybe not.”
U.S. Secret Service did not respond to a request for comment from the Washington Examiner about whether they were looking into the incident. The Secret Service investigated comedian Kathy Griffin last year after she appeared in a photo with a decapitated head that depicted Trump.
