Joy Behar, a co-host on “The View,” floated the idea that Alabama state senators receive a vasectomy if they backed a piece of legislation to outlaw almost all abortions.
“Can we look at a picture of the panel of men who did this? There it is,” Behar said as a picture of 25 white men appeared. “Gee, what do they have in common. They’re all men, all white guys.”
“Maybe they should all be required to get a vasectomy, that group in particular,” Behar said.
ALABAMA PASSES NEAR-TOTAL ABORTION BAN: The state Senate has voted to approve one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country and Gov. Kay Ivey will now decide whether to sign legislation — the co-hosts discuss. https://t.co/YcS2f4w8o2 pic.twitter.com/g9t8XOPWXK

The measure was approved Tuesday evening by a 25-6 margin in the Alabama Senate. It would put doctors behind bars for up to 99 years if they provide abortions, and does not provide exemptions for cases of rape and incest. It does permit women whose health is jeopardized by the pregnancy to obtain an abortion.
The bill will likely be challenged by a federal judge if it’s signed into law by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey because it defies Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 ruling that made abortion legal nationwide. It’s uncertain if Ivey will sign the bill, but she is anti-abortion.
According to the sponsor of the bill, Alabama State Rep. Terri Collins, the goal is for the measure to make its way up to the Supreme Court to potentially overturn Roe v. Wade.
