Kellyanne Conway says Mueller should testify ‘if he wants to’

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said Wednesday that special counsel Robert Mueller should testify before Congress “if he wants to.”

Conway made the remark to reporters at the White House as Attorney General William Barr testified on Capitol Hill about Mueller’s report. Mueller is not scheduled to testify, though some Democrats have expressed interest in hearing from him.

The Mueller report found no evidence that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia in 2016 and analyzed possible instances of President Trump obstructing justice. Barr found that the evidence for obstruction was insufficient.

Mueller reportedly took issue with a four-page letter that Barr wrote in March shortly after receiving a copy of Mueller’s report, and Democrats pressed Barr for additional information on Mueller’s feedback Wednesday.

Conway urged Democrats to treat Barr with respect during his testimony and questioned the motives of Democrats questioning his letter.

“They must be mad at Bob Mueller for not doing their bidding,” Conway said.
