'Trump 2020' banner makes brief comeback at Baltimore Orioles game before stadium officials intervene

Four people who unfurled a banner supporting President Trump’s 2020 reelection bid at a Baltimore Orioles game were ushered out of the stadium Thursday night by police and stadium officials.

The fans held up a red, white, and blue poster with the words “Keep America Great!” and “Trump 2020” on display during the eighth inning at Camden Yards. The banner was visible for approximately 10 minutes before stadium police arrived and escorted the fans out of the stadium.

Video of the spectacle was posted on social media, and fans can be heard shouting, “Take it down!”

According to stadium policy, banners that block the view of any fans are prohibited and can be subject to confiscation “if the content is commercial, political, and/or in bad taste according to the Orioles’ discretion.”

The incident in Charm City comes as Trump has engaged in a war or words with Rep. Elijah Cummings, a Democrat whose district is centered in Baltimore. In the tweet that started the feud, Trump called Baltimore a “rat and rodent infested mess.”

This is not the first time “Trump 2020” banners have been spotted at sporting events.

What appeared to be the same banner was torn down at Fenway Park in Boston during a Seattle Mariners-Boston Red Sox game in May. The incident happened just days after some Red Sox players chose to skip the White House ceremony honoring the reigning World Series champions.

The “Keep America Great!” sign made at least two separate appearances last year.

The first was in June 2018 in the eighth inning of a New York Yankees-Kansas City Royals game in the Bronx, and the second happened in September at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando. Two men unfurled the banner from the second- or third-story of a building in Magic Kingdom, across the street from the Main Street Railroad Station. Security officials immediately requested the sign be taken down, and the men complied without incident.

It is not clear if the same people displayed the “Trump 2020” banner at each location or if the banner used in each case was the same.
