Trump calls for action against ‘tired’ ‘SNL’ and ‘fake news’ NBC

President Trump ripped “Saturday Night Live” and its home network NBC after yet another episode cracked jokes at his expense.

“Nothing funny about tired Saturday Night Live on Fake News NBC! Question is, how do the Networks get away with these total Republican hit jobs without retribution? Likewise for many other shows? Very unfair and should be looked into. This is the real Collusion!” Trump tweeted.

This week’s episode saw the return of actor Alec Baldwin portraying Trump. The cold open made fun of Trump’s “fake” national emergency declaration to divert $8 billion to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Trump hosted the program in 2004 when he starred on NBC’s “The Apprentice” and again in the fall of 2015 during the Republican presidential primary race.

As president, Trump has made multiple calls for a review of NBC. In September 2017, he raised the prospect of re-examining NBC’s license after the news division reported then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson referred to the president as a “moron.” Trump made similar remarks this October after reports the network had mishandled journalist Ronan Farrow’s work exposing longtime Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s misconduct toward women.

In December, Trump said NBC and “Saturday Night Live” were colluding with Democrats and suggested legal action to stop the “unfair news coverage and Dem commercials” after the late-night comedy sketch show aired a cold open in which the cast and crew imagined a world were Trump was not president, satirizing the classic Christmas film, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
