A Metrobus and vehicle crashed Friday morning near Oxon Hill, leaving the car driver in critical condition and injuring seven others.
The bus driver was not apparently at fault. The bus had a green arrow at the time, Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said.
The crash occurred at 8:46 a.m. at the intersection of Indian Head Highway (Md. 210) and Wilson Bridge Drive near National Harbor. The car ran through a red light and hit the right rear of the turning D13 bus headed to the Southern Avenue Metrorail station, Stessel said.
The driver of the car had the most serious injuries and was transferred from Fort Washington Medical Center to Prince George’s Hospital Center’s shock trauma unit. But by afternoon, the driver’s condition had stabilized and the injuries were not considered life-threatening, Stessel said.
Six riders and the bus driver also had injuries, he said. Six of them were also transported to Fort Washington for treatment.
