Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is out of the hospital after being admitted for nonsurgical treatment.
The 87-year-old justice heard oral arguments from her hospital bed on Wednesday after being admitted to Johns Hopkins University for a “benign gallbladder condition” called acute cholecystitis. She was discharged later on Wednesday following the nonsurgical treatment.
According to a statement on Tuesday, Ginsburg had suffered “from a gallstone that has migrated to her cystic duct, blocking it and causing an infection.”
The Supreme Court concluded oral arguments for the week after listening to two cases. One dealt with religious liberty, and the other regarded First Amendment protections of telemarketers.
Ginsburg has dealt with health issues in the past. In September of last year, she had a malignant tumor removed. She has also been treated for colon cancer and pancreatic cancer during her decades on the high court.
