Kasich on D.C.: ‘I don’t recognize this town’

Ohio Gov. John Kasich said Friday the belief popular in Congress today that Republicans and Democrats should not work together is dangerous for the country.

“How does anybody think that the issues of debt, Social Security, Medicare, healthcare, any of these issues, are going to be resolved when we spend all of our time fighting with each other?” Kasich asked at the White House, where he earlier met with President Obama to strategize on how to promote the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

“I don’t recognize this town much anymore because now it’s become so much about politics, and when politics is the order of the day and partisanship trumps country, we drift; we drift as a nation; and I’m extremely concerned about what I see,” the one-time House Budget Committee chairman said.

He called on politicians to rethink what public service means and to refocus on accomplishments, not which party is up or down.
