Rep. Kevin Cramer’s 35-year-old son dies in hospital awaiting liver transplant evaluation

Rep. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., posted to Facebook Thursday that his 35-year-old son, Isaac, passed away earlier that morning at Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

“Now Isaac feels no anxiety or urging for alcohol. He feels no pain and will never be depressed again,” Cramer said in his Facebook post.

When Isaac was transferred to Mayo Clinic in March, he was reportedly suffering from a failing liver and kidneys and was taken in for evaluation for a new liver from the transplant team there.

Cramer had said previously that his son struggled with alcohol abuse, but did not expand.

News of Isaac’s ailment first broke on Feb. 24 when he was hospitalized in Bismarck, N.D.

The congressman recently launch a bid to take the seat of Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., in the upcoming 2018 midterm elections.
