AT&T hired Michael Cohen for consulting work on Time-Warner deal

President Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen was hired by AT&T for consulting work on several issues, including it’s deal with Time-Warner, according to a report Thursday.

The telecommunications giant paid Essential Consultants, a company Cohen established and used to pay porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 right before the 2016 election in exchange for her silence over an alleged affair with Trump, a total of $600,000 and outlined that Cohen would consult them on the potential merger with Time-Warner, the Washington Post reports.

AT&T revealed on Wednesday that it “cooperated fully” with special counsel Robert Mueller’s team in regards to information about the payments the telecommunications company made to Cohen as part of Mueller’s Russia probe.

“When we were contacted by the Special Counsel’s office regarding Michael Cohen, we cooperated fully, providing all information requested in November and December of 2017,” the company said in a statement Wednesday, according to Reuters.

Earlier this week, AT&T confirmed it had hired Essential Consultants to “provide insights into understanding the new administration.”

AT&T hired Cohen shortly after Trump’s inauguration, per the Washington Post. The Trump administration blocked the AT&T-Time Warner merger in November.
