Vice President Mike Pence and his family on Sunday travelled to the Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia, where they got to pet some of the animals.
Arriving just before 11 a.m., Pence, his wife Karen, and daughters Audrey and Charlotte paid a visit to the kangaroos, emus and koalas.

According to a press pool report, the entire family pet a small kangaroo laying in the sand, to which Pence quipped: “That’s my usual position on Sunday afternoon.”

After peering across a lookout, the Pences were also brought a baby possum, who wrapped its tail around Charlotte’s finger. They also met an echidna and an owl.

Pence’s stay in Australia is the last leg of a 10-day trip across the Asia-Pacific, which also included stops in South Korea, Japan and Indonesia.
A day earlier Pence, during a joint press conference in Sydney with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, that the U.S. will honor a refugee resettlement deal that the Obama administration made with Australia. This same agreement, which would transfer up to 1,250 refugees held in offshore detention centers, was called a “dumb deal” by President Trump earlier this year.
