Osama bin Laden’s son promised revenge for his father’s killing in a speech rallying jihadists to continue the fight against the United States.
The speech was titled, “We are all Osama,” according to SITE Intelligence Group.
“We will continue striking you and targeting you in your country and abroad in response to your oppression of the people of Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia and the rest of the Muslim lands that did not survive your oppression,” Hamza bin Laden said. “As for the revenge by the Islamic nation for Sheikh Osama, may Allah have mercy on him, it is not revenge for Osama the person but it is revenge for those who defended Islam.”
As the son of the world’s most famous jihadist, Hamza Bin Laden could help al Qaeda recapture the imagination of potential terrorists who are currently flocking to the Islamic State, which has had far more success in recent years. “Hamza provides a new face for al Qaeda, one that directly connects to the group’s founder,” the Brookings Institution’s Bruce Reidel told Reuters. “He is an articulate and dangerous enemy.”
