An Ohio couple must stay away from the SkyStar Wheel in Cincinnati, Ohio, after they were accused with having sex on the 150-foot-tall attraction in front of both parents and children.
Michael Mathisen, 30, and Lauren Wilder, 31, were arrested on March 28 and pleaded not guilty to charges related to the alleged incident.
According to Fox19, the couple is under a court order to stay away from the Ferris wheel.
“The couple made eye contact and continued doing what they were doing,” Todd Schneider, a managing partner of SkyStar told Cincinnati.com. “They weren’t thinking correctly. It’s a festive day, festive environment.”
“The gondolas being all glass, fully exposed — it was just a bad situation. … There’s really nowhere to hide in there,” Schneider added about the Ferris wheel passenger capsule the couple had sex in.
Staff stopped the ride and an off-duty police officer hired to monitor the ride arrested the couple. Wilder was charged with disorderly conduct, while Mathisen was booked with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.
The couple has another court date on May 9.
SkyStar, which is a temporary attraction that opened last fall along the banks of the Ohio River, has seen more than 100,000 people ride it in its Cincinnati location.
