A shooting outside the Labor Department on Capitol Hill caused the U.S. Capitol to be put on lockdown at 4:15 p.m. local time for approximately 30 minutes.
Shortly after 4 p.m., U.S. Capitol Police reported shots fired at Metropolitan Police Department officers outside of the federal agency, located at Constitution Avenue and C Street NW, one block northwest of the Capitol building.
Officers were able to apprehend two suspects at the Third Street Tunnel. The lockdown continued until police were able to find the third suspect, Capitol Police confirmed in a statement Tuesday evening.

The House of Representatives continued to vote during the lockdown.
No civilians or officers were injured in the shooting. Police have not stated the cause of the incident.
Earlier Tuesday, the Ford House Office Building was evacuated after a suspicious object was discovered in a mechanical room. Further inspection revealed the object was not a threat and staffers and members were allowed back into the building.
