Former Ward 6 D.C. Councilwoman Nadine Winter has died. Winter was 87 when she passed away on Friday. She served on the D.C. Council from 1975 through 1991, and was unseated by Harold Brazil. She was known as a social services activist. She added to her council career stints as the executive director of Hospitality House, a nonprofit that provides day care for the poor and homeless services. She also was one of the founding members of the National Congress of Black Women. — Freeman Klopott
