President Trump called House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff a “pencil neck” during a meeting with GOP lawmakers Tuesday.
Trump used the term several times in his meeting with about two dozen House Republicans who were at the White House to discuss trade and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.
Trump also said that Schiff, a California Democrat, “would be a horrible golfer who could drive the ball only 50 yards,” according to Politico.
Trump’s insults come on the heels of his senior adviser Kellyanne Conway calling on Schiff to resign for the way he repeatedly characterized the investigation into Russian interference in the election.
“He ought to resign today,” Conway said on “Fox & Friends,” pointing to Schiff’s claims that the investigation’s findings could be bigger than Watergate. “He has been on every TV show 50 times a day practically for the last two years promising Americans that the president would be impeached or indicted.”
Although special counsel Robert Mueller delivered his report last week, concluding that there was no evidence the Trump campaign colluded with Russia, the Democrat-controlled House Intelligence Committee is still pursuing its own investigation.
